Enter our competition for your chance to join Rabbie’s on the ultimate Outlander Trail

We’ve joined up with Rabbie’s to offer one Outlander fan and their guest the chance to win a tour of some of the TV series’ most evocative sites.

Our winners will climb aboard a Rabbie’s luxury mini-coach and embark on a four-day adventure from Edinburgh. The Outlander Trail follows in Jamie and Claire’s footsteps, touring through the Cairngorms and Highlands, visiting the castles, battlefields and monuments that feature in the hit show. With a Rabbie’s driver-guide taking the wheel and telling memorable tales, our winners can relax and enjoy the forests, mountains and lochs that double as the epic Outlander landscape.

Rabbie’s Outlander Trail sets off from Edinburgh and soon arrives at Culross (which posed as fictional village Cranesmuir), in the show. After visiting the town of Falkland from Outlander’s first-ever episode, the tour calls at Newtonmore Highland Folk Museum and its replicas of 18th-century
turf-roofed Highland crofts, which featured in the first season.

After resting overnight in the ‘capital of the Highlands’ Inverness, the tour visits Culloden Battlefield, site of the last battle fought on British soil. Viewers watched Outlander’s Jamie and Claire say their tearful goodbyes here before Jamie joined the Jacobite army. Nearby, Clava Cairns, the well-preserved complex of ring cairns and standing stones, is as ancient as it is beautiful, and it’s also said to be the inspiration for the standing stones of Craigh na Dun.

Our lucky winner and their guest will also visit majestic Glen Affric, a beautiful spot with high mountains and dense pine forests. Landscapes like these were once the perfect hiding spots for Jacobite soldiers evading the English redcoats. Dramatic views are aplenty during a drive along the bank of Loch Ness. At Glenfinnan, a stone monument commemorates the beginning of the last Jacobite rising.

On the final day exploring the sites and scars of 18th-century Scotland, the tour visits the fortresses that projected power over the Highlands and Lowlands, including Doune Castle, which appeared as Castle Leoch, home of Clan MacKenzie. The tour’s fitting grand finale is a visit to Jamie’s Lallybroch home – Midhope Castle.
